Meet Dr. Mallare, DNP, PMHNP-BC & Our Mission
Neurodiversity-Affirming, Evidence-Based Psychiatric Care Delivered Virtually Across Maryland
As a doctorally-prepared, nationally board-certified family psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner, I provide comprehensive medication management and supportive talk therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. I commonly work with individuals navigating depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, and eating disorders.
Our practice draws from proven, evidence-based therapies—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and behavioral activation.
I combine these therapeutic techniques into personalized interventions designed to help you build practical skills, reduce your day-to-day symptoms, improve your overall functioning, and directly strengthen your medication management plan.
My Care Philosophy
I operate from a dedicated neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed clinical framework. I believe that mental health is inseparable from the whole person—your physical well-being, relationships, history, and social environment all matter here. I find ways to support your medication adherence and discuss how you can address important lifestyle components like sleep, diet, exercise and assessing community support.
Our work together will be entirely collaborative. At our initial visit, we will discuss your expectations and build a tailored plan of care. You bring the goals, personal insights, and preferences for your treatment; I provide the medical education, guidance, and medication management. I work hard to maintain a space that feels genuinely safe and nonjudgmental. To ensure you receive well-rounded care, I also value collaborating closely with your other healthcare professionals, including primary care providers and therapists and others who you choose to involve in your treatment.
Background & Accomplishments
Before transitioning to a fully virtual private practice, I spent years working in diverse clinical settings. I have developed quality improvement programs aimed at translating the latest research into everyday practice—including specialized initiatives for depression care in cancer patients, safety protocols on inpatient units, and programs to enhance safe prescribing practices. I have also led behavioral health emergency response teams and been recognized for outstanding service in adult inpatient psychiatry.
I was born and raised in Maryland, and my practice is now entirely telehealth-based. I offer a private, confidential virtual environment with flexible hours, including evenings, to ensure getting high-quality care fits into your real life.
Beyond The Practice
When I am not with patients, I try to practice the same holistic balance I encourage in my care. You can usually find me outdoors hiking and running, or staying grounded with yoga, pilates, and cross-stitch. I share my home with a beloved cat (though I have a major soft spot for dogs, too), and love spending my spare time reading, cooking, watching comedies, and connecting with my friends and family.
I am proudly LGBTQIA+ -affirming, and I would be truly honored to be a collaborative partner in your mental health journey.
